Neil Hughes is the Managing Partner of the Baker Tilly Corporate Recovery Department in Cyprus. Neil is also the Managing Partner of Baker Tilly Hughes Blake, the Baker Tilly International member firm in Ireland. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and holds a B.A. in Accounting and Finance from Dublin City University.
Neil is a member of the Institute of Insolvency Practitioners in Ireland (ISIP) and is also a licenced Insolvency Practitioner in Cyprus.
Neil is one of Ireland’s most foremost insolvency and restructuring experts and the leading practitioner of examinership, the formal rescue process that is unique to Cyprus and Ireland. He has acted in over 200 examinership cases in recent years and has lectured widely on the subject of restructuring. Neil contributes weekly to the print and broadcast media on restructuring matters.
Neil has been appointed Statutory Receiver and Manager to various real estate holding and property development companies by NAMA (National Asset Management Agency) with debts totalling €500m. He has also worked on a wide range of insolvency cases in Cyprus, across number sectors including hospitality, financial services and distribution.
The Seven Cs of Business Recovery – This book provides a framework to help businesses successfully trade through tough times. It sets out the seven principles (Seven Cs) of business recovery that should be employed to ensure the survival of an ailing but viable business. The book was published by Chartered Accountants Ireland in 2010.
